Data hosting and server locations

Condens allows you to choose where your data is hosted — either in the United States (US) or the European Union (EU). Selecting a server location allows you to:

  • Comply with local regulations: Hosting your data in the US or EU helps meet the residency requirements of region-specific privacy and security laws.

  • Enhance performance: Teams closer to the selected server will benefit from faster access to data, reducing latency and improving workflow efficiency.

  • Be flexible with global teams: If your organization operates across regions, you can choose a different server location for each organization to meet specific needs.

How to choose a server location when creating a new account

When setting up a new Condens account, you will be asked to select where your data should be hosted. Follow these steps:

  1. Sign up for a new account.

  2. In the setup process, you will be prompted to select a server location:

    • United States for US-based data residency and compliance with US regulations.

    • European Union for EU-based data residency and compliance with EU regulations.

  3. Once selected, the data for that organization will be hosted in the chosen region. The server location can not be changed after the account has been created.

Managing multiple organizations with different server locations

In Condens, you can create and manage multiple organizations. While each organization can only be hosted on a single server, you can select a different server location for each one to ensure all data is stored and processed within the chosen region.

For example, if you have teams in the US and Europe, you can create separate organizations for each, ensuring their data is hosted locally, complies with regional regulations, and benefits from faster performance.

Keep in mind that each organization operates independently, meaning data is separated between them. Shared global elements, such as taxonomies, cannot be synchronized across organizations hosted in different regions.

Changing the server location for an existing organization

For existing organizations, changing server locations isn’t something you can do directly. If you need to move your data from one server region to another (e.g., from the EU to the US), please contact our support team, and we’ll evaluate your request on a case-by-case basis.

Will the share URLs change?

Yes, the structure of share URLs may differ slightly depending on the server region, but this change won’t affect how the links work. Sharing research findings will continue to function seamlessly across regions.
