UX Research Conference Guide for 2023
Whether youβre looking to level up your research skills, get inspired by experts in the field, or make new friends in research - conferences are a great way to do all of it. This guide lists the user research conferences taking place in 2023. Early bird tickets with reduced prices are available for many events already.
The last years were difficult for probably everyone and definitely for the conference organizers. And itβs still somehow uncertain what events in 2023 will look like. What we know is that most major conferences take place early in the year, and some of them went back to in-person events with online participation possibilities. You can spot in-person (π) and online (π₯) participation options directly in the overview.
This guide focuses on pure UX research conferences and doesnβt include general UX conferences on purpose. Did we miss one? Let us know via hello@condens.io and we are happy to add it!

It focuses on connecting self & community through research and best practices for creating a healthy environment for work in research, this year's theme. Tickets for the half-day conference are free.
UX360 Research Summit π₯
UX360 Research Summit 2023 will be fully virtual, offering presentations, interactive panel discussions, and 1-on-1-meeting opportunities around UX and design research. Design Research 2023 takes place in Australia but can be joined virtually. While the program isn't released yet, it will consist of 2 full days of conference presentations. The organizers already announced that the 2023 conference will focus on exploring "the breadth of design research practices that contribute to these challenges at every level, from initial assessment to planning and conducting, and analysis and use."
Note that workshop tickets have to be purchased separately from the conference ticket.
QRCA Annual Conference π
The Qualitative Research Consultants Association celebrates its 40th birthday in 2023 with an in-person event in Charlotte, North Carolina. The QRCA annual conference traditionally has a strong focus on market research but covers all things qualitative research including UX Research. With the conference theme of "Powering up for the future of qual" the event will circle around new ways and research methods of observing, listening, interacting, and more. The 3-day in-person event comes with an elaborated program for networking, connecting, and discussing in smaller groups.
Advancing Research π₯
The fourth edition of the Advancing Research (by Rosenfeld) conference, with talks and panels will take place entirely virtually. Curated by Jemma Ahmed, Chris Geison, and the team from Rosenfeld Media, this event is all about advancing the research practice. The goal is to "collaboratively re-assess the state of the practice, consider the increasingly complex demands being placed upon research teams and leaders, and work together to define clear roles, set goals, and establish scalable solutions for achieving them." Besides the virtual conference's main program, you can attend an extra workshop day on March 30th.
UXinsight Festival π₯ π
Europeβs largest user research conference is opening its doors for the 7th time again. Attendees are invited to join the in-person conference in the Netherlands or be part of the event virtually. Besides the talks and workshops, UX Insight Festival stands out with its interactive sessions that help you make new research friends.
The BAD Conference π₯
Psychology, anthropology, philosophy experts, and more deliver ideologies behind conducting deeper, more meaningful user research and design. Learn to understand your users better than they do, and discover the sciences and methods that influence the experience design process. The most academic conference in our calendar offers invaluable knowledge from research experts, behavioural scientists and PhD speakers. There is no better way to improve your understanding of how behavioural science underpins design.
#gamesUR Summit North America π₯π
The #gamesUR Summit North America 2023 will happen in person and virtually. There is no program announced yet, but this yearβs session will be all around the theme of Community: "Games user research is a field that relies heavily on people power. How we learn from each other and the communities we serve is an essential part of the job description of a games user researcher."
UXRConf π₯
Another year, another UXRConf. Back for its sixth edition, the conference team is as excited as ever to bring you an upgraded, fully remote experience showcasing the best UX Research content youβll find all year. All talks will be recorded and made available to watch after the conference for free.
